Teen Pregnancy

The United States has some of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the industrialized world -- each year almost 750,000 women ages 15–19 become pregnant.
Teen pregnancy has a tremendous impact on the health and well being of young women, their families, and their communities. Race and socioeconomic issues play a role in adolescent pregnancy and that under served communities are disproportionately impacted.
A steady decline in the teen pregnancy rate from 1995-2002 was due largely to changes in sexual behavior among young people who were sexually active, including increased use of contraception and the use of more reliable methods of contraception.
